Simply put I do I this because it makes me happy. I before this I mostly worked on computers and whenever it got frustrating I just wanted to give up and walk away from the project. When I was finished I didn’t really feel a sense of happiness so much as a sense of relief. When I found Film and Photography I found something that makes me happy. I’m even happy to deal with the problems that make me feel like I might lose my mind. I am also the kind of person who has many interests, I’ve never just had one type of hobby. Film and Photography allow me to do a little of everything that I loved.
I am glad to challenge myself and try new things in my project even if they may be difficult. I enjoy the challenge and the personal growth that comes along with those projects.
One of my favorite parts of completing a project is finding out what others see in my work. I have found that my viewers tend to see more in my projects then I do. Again this allows me to have some self discovery and grow more as a person.
Every case is a bit different it seems but I make the choices of look, feel, and angles because I am trying to evoke emotions with my work. As I go along with a project I am always picturing how I want the final product should feel.
My current personal projects consist of a different kind of challenge. For example I am working on a Vlog of motorcycle trips that I take. The challenge there is just making something simple that people might want to watch but also how to use small minimal equipment and complete the production on my own. Another project is a fairly simple channel where my close friend Josh and I watch movies and analyze them like a book club. Our challenges consists of making everything look good on a low budget and with very little time. Both project present the challenge of me being in front of the camera which definitely puts me out of my comfort zone.
